Activities for the Month of

March / April2008

21 Mar :

05 Mar :

Tubular Constellations. We will begin with our last investiture, and finish up the Magic Light Tails. Then Rusty has a really cool way of helping us see the constellations up close and personal! Rainbow will be sending home registration forms for the Planetarium tonight, which will need to be back next week. We are inviting the Cubs to come along if they are interested, too.

12 Mar :

Stellar Games. Malak has come up with a whole bunch of games for us to play! We will play in lodges and travel from space station to space station.

15 Mar :

Saturday Planetarium Visit. The show we will be seeing is called The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket, and runs approximately 40 minutes. Cost is (based on a Group Rate) $5.85 per adult, and $4.50 per youth. Because this event must be booked with the Planetarium to ensure enough seats are available, Rainbow needs to have all registrations back no later than 12 March. Beavers should be in their uniforms. We will meet at the Planetarium entrance for 1:45.

19 Mar :

Space Cadets R Us. Beavers will be creating the necessary noggin protectors for the remainder of the month’s activities!

26 Mar :

Alien Beaver Landscape Hike. We will meet at the parking lot of Assiniboine Forest (corner of Chalfont & Grant) for our regular meeting time. Beavers are to lug-a-mug, and bring along those helmets!!!

09 Apr :

Off to the Egg Races! Okay, so this does not really have anything to do with animals, other than the fact that all the Beavers need to bring along a Styrofoam egg carton, and dress to be outdoors

16 Apr :

Walk Like the Animals. We will be playing some games that will teach us to recognize different animal tracks. If the weather is fair, we will be outdoors. If it is raining, we will play in the gym.

19 Apr :

Saturday Visit to the Zoo. We really wanted to do this on a Beaver night, but the zoo is still closing early. So, we will meet at the Zoo main entrance (East Gate; check the map at http://www.zoosociety.com/Files/ParkZooSide.pdf) at 1:30. Everyone should bring along a water bottle. Adult admission is $4.46, youth is $2.36. Beavers will be covered by dues. This is not a guided tour. Beavers should be in their uniforms.

23 Apr :

Swim Up Event. We shall bid a fond farewell to our Magic Light Beavers. If the weather is fair, we will meet at Assiniboine Park at the shelter west of the Volleyball courts. If it is raining, we shall meet in the gym. All donations of snacks will be gratefully accepted!

28 & 30 Apr :

Scouttrees Canvassing. This is our major fund raiser for the year. If you are able to make both nights – Wonderful! If you are only able to make one or the other, that’s great, too! Many bodies make light work! We will meet at the school for regular meeting times. This is an event organized by Group Committee

3 May :

Scout Trees Planting. We go out to a designated plant site, plant a bazillion trees, then feast on hot dogs, juice and cookies! A fun day for all!

10 May :

Jamboree on the Trail. Usually this activity is planned by Akela, and we tag along for the fun. But this year, the Beavers get to plan all the fun! All Beavers participating in this activity get a way cool campfire blanket patch, too

13-15 Jun :

Family Camp. Just like it says, and TONS OF FUN! Every year a new and fascinating adventure for everyone!
